The Christmas Project
Christmas is a special time of year. But it’s also a hard, often isolating time for a lot of families.
Each November Discovery Community Care and its partners, Anchor (provides housing for homeless) & Eastern Health (Mental Health Services) purchase food and toys for those in our community who struggle to provide for their families at Christmas.
Clients of these partners are invited to register for the Christmas Project so that some of the stress and isolation they are experiencing is not made worse at Christmas time.
Christmas Food hampers are made up from these food donations and they are distributed to our clients who have registered a need for this service. As well as Christmas Hampers we provide gifts of hundreds of donated toys so that parents or grandparents, who have full time care of boys and girls up to age 12 can, for a gold coin donation “shop” at the “Toy Shop” and take home a gift for their child. This donation goes back into the purchase of more toys.
Other groups are welcome to donate goods and produce towards this wonderful cause.
With everyone’s help, we can continue to share love at Christmas in our local community.
If you or a group you are associated with would like to donate to the 2016 Christmas Project then please contact us.
